About the Challenge

Rich and Helen DeVos issued a challenge in which they will match, dollar-for-dollar, all new funding to the Campaign for the Secchia Center up to $5 million. According to Mr. DeVos, we will match any new commitment to the Secchia Center dollar for dollar up to $5 million.  Our goal is to see this wonderful facility opened in September with all of the private funds committed."

The expansion of MSU’s College of Human Medicine is important, not just for Grand Rapids, but for the entire state and beyond. The Secchia Center will be a key element in a public-private partnership that is the first of its kind and a national model for innovation, excellence and collaboration. Through community-based medical education and meaningful discovery, this venture will ultimately improve patient care throughout the state. It will enhance this region’s image as a hub for world-class health   care and research. It will make an important difference in many lives.

Special Recognition

Those who respond with a gift of $10,000 or more will be recognized on a special plaque located on the 8th floor of the Secchia Center at the Richard and Helen DeVos Rooftop Garden.  Their names will be among the elite few who ascertained that this world-class medical facility became a reality for West Michigan.
